Westmead hospital has upgraded their two visitor transport Buggies. This will help immensely with the transportation of patients and visitors with mobility difficulties, enabling the volunteers who drive these buggies easier access to services within the hospitals facilities including various wards and clinics that the patients may need to attend.
This has come about by the generous donation from Holdmark Property Group, Arab Bank Australia and the George Naim Khatter Foundation.
The new buggies have been co-sponsored and donated courtesy of the Westmead Medical Research Foundation. They will replace the existing green machines that have helped transport people for over a decade.
It is a task getting around a big hospital like Westmead, and when you are unwell, it can feel almost impossible- thats why the complimentary buggy system is so important, acting general manager Sue-Anne Redmond said.
Westmead Medical Research Foundation head of development Joe Conneely acknowledged the generosity of the organisations behind the new buggies.
The dedication of these three organisation to help our community is sincerely appreciated, he said. The support means we can continue to provide patients and visitors with this free service, which is part of our ongoing commitment towards our patients health and wellbeing.
The buggies are available five days a week from the hospital entrance to help those in the community. This free service allows for the ongoing support and wellbeing of patients and visitors in community.
